It dumped before dawn today. and the creek is huge. Not as huge as I've seen it before but I it's high enough I can see it rushing by sitting here at the computer. Before dawn I sat here and listened to the wind and wondered if one of the big trees would come crashing down on me. A few years ago my neighbor was pinned in her bed by a tree top that came down through her roof. If it had not hung up on the window sills she would have been crushed. She's since left, could not take our spooky winters. I don't blame her. A tree fell on our house the year before hers came down. Luckily, it was caught in the fork created by two smaller redwoods that butt up against the house and merely clipped the eaves and tore out the powerline. So far we have'nt lost power this winter, at least not more than 3 hours.
